Gerald Laird Leads Saguaro To State Title

The Saguaro Sabercats captured the 4A State Championship after defeating ALA Gilbert North 11-4, marking an incredible first season for head coach Gerald Laird.

Laird, a former MLB catcher with 11 years of professional experience, took over the Sabercats program this season and immediately made an impact. Under his leadership, Saguaro played with confidence and consistency throughout the postseason, ultimately finishing the year with a state title.

The Sabercats offense was powered by standout performances from Alain Gomez-Gudino and the rest of the lineup as Saguaro controlled the championship game from start to finish.

In just one season, Laird helped continue Saguaro’s strong baseball tradition while bringing a championship back to the Sabercats.
