With a final score of 61-57, it was a suspenseful battle for the top seed in the state. Tickets sold out before noon on Wednesday, and the gym was packed one hour ahead of game time.

The gymnasium shook from the crowd’s chants right from the start. After a rough first half, the Vikings found the right footing in a nail-biting end to the game. The Tigers were ahead by two with three minutes left when they sustained a foul and allowed the Vikings two free throw points. It was tied 57-57 with less than one minute left when both teams called for timeouts. The gym shook from its rafters as fans cheered on their teams. It all came down to Millennium's discipline as they fouled again after the timeout. This gave Sunnyslope the edge with two more free throw points to take home the victory and remain the top seed.

Numerous five star players stood out from both teams last night. Most notably Sunnyslope junior point guard Darius Wabbington, who led the Vikings and put up 20 points and 14 rebounds.

“It’s gotta go out to the fans,” said Wabbington. “They continue to bring it, they continue to support us… and we really appreciate it.”
