Arizona's Koa Peat Declares for NBA Draft

Arizona freshman forward Koa Peat has officially declared for the NBA Draft.

The Arizona native has stayed in the desert his entire life, playing basketball at the highest level. He was a key factor in Perry High School’s success, helping lead the program to four AIA State Championship titles — the first team in history to accomplish that feat. Peat’s dominance at the high school level was undeniable, and that success carried seamlessly into the college game.

Peat committed to the University of Arizona, joining a talented group that included Brayden Burries, Bryce James, Jaden Bradley, and Dwayne Aristode. The Wildcats’ roster was stacked during the 2025–2026 season and did not disappoint. Arizona went on to become Big 12 Champions and held the No. 1 spot in the AP Poll for nine consecutive weeks. A key factor in that success was Koa Peat. With his accomplishments and impact as an Arizona native, Peat earned the title of “Mr. Arizona.”

What was expected to be Arizona’s year to win it all was cut short in a matchup against Michigan. In an uncharacteristic performance, the Wildcats fell 91–73. Despite the loss, Peat led the team with 16 points and 11 rebounds. He capped off his season by being named Most Outstanding Player and earning West All-Region honors in the NCAA Tournament.

Koa Peat’s journey in Arizona may be coming to a close, but the legacy he leaves behind is unforgettable. From dreaming as a kid to becoming a hometown hero, his impact is one that will last. No matter where he lands, Arizona will be cheering him on at the next level.
