The Notre Dame Prep Saints started out the game strong. Nailing field goals to give themselves a 9-6 lead at the end of the first quarter. The Saints kept this momentum going in the second and took the lead by six points, however it wasn't enough to withhold their opponent's hot winning streak.
It was a memorable night for the Mountain Pointe Pride as they honored Head Coach Kaimarr Price in his hundredth win throughout his seven years with the team. When asked who has helped him along this journey, he gave great thanks to his wife and family, along with the team itself.
“You know it’s a lot of sacrifice,” Coach Price said. “A lot of nights going to practices and games, so [I thank] my wife and kids… then just all of the young men I’ve been able to coach over the years.”
Living up to their name this season, the Pride didn’t take long to bounce back as they set up for a picture perfect dunk to get the crowd rolling again. The Saints tried to respond, but the Pride secured a rebound to bring it down court for a two pointer. Led by sophomore Javein Moody, Mountain Pointe tied it up 12-12. The Pride continued to roll late in the first half and took the lead 19-12, and it was all uphill for them after that.

Fast forward to the third quarter where the maroon and gold led the Saints by 13 points with one minute left. The Saints were scoreless throughout the starting minutes of the fourth quarter. Mountain Pointe continued to dominate, and hit two free throws to make it 42-23 with five minutes left.
The Pride sealed the deal with a final score of 53-28 and secured their seventh straight win. As playoffs near, Sophomore Justin Kimbrough knows what needs to happen for his team in games to come.
“It all starts in practice,” Kimbrough said. “Competing and going at each other… so when we go out and play other teams we give our best shot.”
Mountain Pointe will continue its home stretch and welcome the Chaparral Firebirds (6-13) on Wednesday. Notre Dame Prep, on the other hand, will look to bounce back from this loss at home against Campo Verde (15-3) on Wednesday.
