A Dangerous Brophy Team Gears Up For The Postseason

The last 3 years have marked strong runs for the Brophy baseball program and 2026 is no exception. It has not been a perfect season but that might be what makes this Brophy team dangerous.

With 7 games left in the regular season for Brophy, they are looking to have a dominant run in the playoffs. The only losses so far have been against powerhouse schools like Corona Del Sol and Red Mountain. While the team sits at a 12-3, it is realistic for them to end the season 19-3.

Earlier this season, Brophy take down the No. 1 team in the state and No. 15 nationally ranked Casteel. This remains to be Casteel's only in-state loss. The Broncos had Ronan O'Brien pitching for 6 innings and had a recorded 9 strikeouts against the Colts. So far in the season Ronan has pitched 27 innings, 37 strikeouts, faced 104 batters, and only allowed 17 hits. Ronan has pitched against Queen Creek, O'Connor, and Corona Del Sol and every game he has been in, it has led to a Bronco victory.

Since then the only major loss this season comes from Red Mountain 2-10. This game was an uncharacteristic look for Brophy, putting in 5 pitchers. Despite multiple efforts, Brophy could not stop the dominant momentum of the Mountain Lions. The other two losses this season against Corona Del Sol, going into 8 innings for an Aztec walk off ends up splitting the series. Desert Vistas surprising Brophy, going 2-3. Both of these games being a run difference.

Most recently, Brophy play against Millennium which again was a tight finish. Broncos found themselves 3-4 in the bottom of the 6th until Ian Palumbo came to bat. This game shifted when Ian Palumbo hit a crucial two run home run. This allowed the Broncos to find the confidence to close out the game 5-4. With this win we could see Brophy go on a win streak to close out the season.
