Bamboo Sports Media is an Arizona-based sports media company focused on covering high school athletics through photography, videography, journalism, live broadcasting, and social media storytelling. Founded by Jonathan Olden, Bamboo Sports Media has grown into one of Arizona’s emerging independent sports media outlets, producing content seen by thousands of athletes, families, schools, and fans across the state.
 

Our mission is to spotlight athletes, teams, and communities through high-quality creative media and storytelling. We cover sports throughout Arizona with a focus on delivering professional-level content for high school athletics, including game coverage, live broadcasts, interviews, feature stories, highlights, social media content, and championship event coverage.
 

Bamboo Sports Media works with schools, athletic programs, brands, and organizations to create engaging sports coverage while helping student-athletes gain recognition on a larger platform. Our team operates in fast-paced environments covering major matchups, playoff events, state championships, and community sports stories across Arizona.

Our internship and staff opportunities are designed to give creatives hands-on experience in sports photography, videography, journalism, social media, and broadcast production while working alongside an active media team covering live events throughout the state.

Job Summary:

The Sports Marketing Intern will help develop and execute marketing initiatives that strengthen the Bamboo Sports Media brand and expand its presence throughout Arizona's sports community. This individual will work alongside Bamboo's leadership, social media, editorial, and production teams to promote coverage, events, partnerships, and the overall Bamboo brand.
 

This internship is ideal for someone interested in pursuing a career in sports marketing, public relations, communications, brand management, or sports business.

Job Duties:

  • Assist in developing and executing marketing campaigns for Bamboo Sports Media.

  • Help promote upcoming broadcasts, events, special coverage, and other Bamboo initiatives.

​

  • Assist with public relations and external communications.

​

  • Research potential brand partnerships, sponsorships, and community opportunities.

​

  • Help develop sponsorship and partnership proposals, presentations, and promotional materials.

​

  • Assist with sponsor activations across Bamboo's digital platforms and event coverage.

​

  • Help build and maintain relationships with schools, athletic programs, organizations, businesses, and community partners.

​

  • Develop marketing ideas designed to increase brand awareness and audience engagement.

​

  • Assist with email marketing, promotional messaging, and outreach campaigns.

​

  • Collaborate with the Social Media Strategist and content team on marketing campaigns and brand initiatives.

​

  • Assist with marketing and promotion surrounding media days, broadcasts, tournaments, and special events.

​

  • Research sports media and marketing trends and identify new opportunities for Bamboo Sports Media.

​

  • Assist in tracking campaign performance, audience growth, engagement, and other marketing results.

​

  • Contribute ideas for expanding Bamboo Sports Media's presence throughout Arizona.

Education/Requirements:

  • Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a college or university program.

​

  • Students pursuing degrees in Marketing, Sports Business, Sports Management, Public Relations, Communications, Advertising, Business, or a related field are encouraged to apply.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong interest in sports marketing, public relations, branding, or sports business.

​

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

​

  • Creative mindset with the ability to develop new campaign and promotional ideas.

​

  • Understanding of branding and how organizations communicate with their audiences.

​

  • Familiarity with social media platforms and digital marketing strategies.

​

  • Experience with marketing, public relations, student organizations, athletics, or event promotion is preferred.

​

  • Comfortable communicating professionally with businesses, schools, athletic departments, and community partners.

​

  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.

​

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.

​

  • Experience with Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, email marketing platforms, or similar marketing tools is a plus.

​

  • Basic understanding of marketing analytics, social media insights, and campaign performance is a plus.

​

  • Interest in sponsorships, partnership development, and brand activations is preferred.

​

  • Knowledge of Arizona high school and collegiate sports is a plus.

​

  • Ability to work independently while collaborating with Bamboo's different media departments.
