Position: Multimedia Journalist Intern
Location: Phoenix, Arizona (NOTE: This role will be expected to travel to the east and west valley for game coverage.)
Job Type: Hybrid (NOTE: Applicant is expected to be at games in-person, edit on site or remotely.)

Bamboo Sports Media is an Arizona-based sports media company focused on covering high school athletics through photography, videography, journalism, live broadcasting, and social media storytelling. Founded by Jonathan Olden, Bamboo Sports Media has grown into one of Arizona’s emerging independent sports media outlets, producing content seen by thousands of athletes, families, schools, and fans across the state.
Our mission is to spotlight athletes, teams, and communities through high-quality creative media and storytelling. We cover sports throughout Arizona with a focus on delivering professional-level content for high school athletics, including game coverage, live broadcasts, interviews, feature stories, highlights, social media content, and championship event coverage.

Job Summary:
The Multimedia Journalist at Bamboo Sports Media will cover Arizona high school sports through written articles, video storytelling, interviews, and on-camera reporting. This role is designed for individuals passionate about sports journalism and digital media who want hands-on experience covering live sporting events and creating engaging sports content.
Multimedia Journalists will work directly with the Bamboo Sports Media team to produce game recaps, feature stories, athlete interviews, stand-up reports, and social media content while helping tell the stories of athletes, teams, and communities throughout Arizona.
Job Duties:

Write articles, game recaps, and feature stories

Conduct interviews with athletes, coaches, and community members

Create video stories and stand-up reports

Assist with live event coverage and media day productions

Collaborate with photographers, videographers, and social media staff

Research storylines, statistics, and game information

Assist with posting journalism-related content to social media platforms

Maintain professionalism while representing Bamboo Sports Media at events

Help develop creative storytelling ideas and sports coverage concepts
Education/Requirements:

Current enrollment at a two-year or four-year college or university

Strong writing, communication, and storytelling skills

Passion for sports journalism and media

Ability to work nights and weekends during sporting events

Comfortable conducting interviews and communicating with athletes/coaches

Ability to work in fast-paced environments and meet deadlines

Strong professionalism and teamwork skills
Preferred Qualifications:

Experience writing articles, sports recaps, or feature stories

Experience with video production or on-camera reporting

Knowledge of Arizona high school sports

Experience with Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, or CapCut

Familiarity with social media content creation

Basic photography or videography experience

Ability to create engaging digital and video storytelling content
